Sandpit is a small, sheltered 61-acre lake near Ely with a maximum depth of 53 feet and one campsite. Access is via portages from Lac la Croix (12 rods, easy) or longer carries from Mudro, Range, and Tin Can Mike. The lake connects by open water to Basswood and Range, offering walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, and bluegill fishing.
