Terms of Service

1. Acceptance
By using BWCA Planner (the “Service”) you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Use at your own risk
BWCA Planner provides route-planning information about the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness based on public datasets. Routes, distances, portage difficulty, water levels, fish presence, and any other information shown are estimates. Conditions in the wilderness change rapidly. You are responsible for your own safety, navigation, permits, and decision-making in the field. Always carry official paper maps, a compass, and emergency communication.
3. No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the data is current or complete.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BWCA Planner and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including injury, property damage, or loss arising from reliance on routing or trip-planning information.
5. Account responsibilities
If you create an account you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. You agree not to misuse the Service, attempt to disrupt it, scrape it at abusive rates, or use it to violate the terms of any underlying data provider.
6. Data attribution
BWCA Planner aggregates data from third-party sources (see the About page). Each source retains its own license and attribution requirements. Notably, OpenStreetMap data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL).
7. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
