Newton Lake

Newton Lake, a 516-acre lake near Ely with a maximum depth of 47 feet, features extensive shallow, weedy bays that provide productive fish habitat. The lake holds two campsites and offers access via moderate portages: 84 rods to Fall Lake and 85 rods to Basswood Lake. Newton connects by open water to Basswood, Fall, and Thirty Three lakes. Walleye, smallmouth bass, northern pike, and yellow perch are among the species present.
