Knife Lake is a large, deep 3,712-acre lake near Ely with 51 campsites and significant wind exposure that can windbound paddlers during storms. Access is easiest via the 13-rod portage to Toe Lake, though multiple portages range up to 102 rods to reach Amoeber Lake. Open water connects to Little Knife, Bonnie, Seed, Eddy, Toe, and Nave lakes. The lake holds walleye, northern pike, lake trout, smallmouth bass, and other species.
