Alton is a 969-acre lake near Tofte with a maximum depth of 72 feet and 16 campsites. Access is via portages from Kelso (13 rods, easy) or Sawbill (29 rods). The lake connects by open water to Kelso and offers fishing for walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, and yellow perch, among other species. Longer portages reach Wonder and Beth lakes.
