Loon is a large, deep 1,095-acre lake near Grand Marais with mostly open water and fairly exposed conditions that can turn windy and choppy. Access is easy via a 19-rod portage from Crab Lake. The lake has 16 campsites and connects by open water to Little Mayhew and Crab. Fishing includes lake trout, walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, and bluegill.
