Long Island is an 884-acre lake near Grand Marais with a maximum depth of 85 feet. The easiest access is a 32-rod portage from Karl (easy carry), though a 106-rod portage to Cave offers a harder alternative. The lake connects by open water to Karl, Gordon, Fun, Ash, Muskeg, and Ferret. It holds 14 campsites and supports lake trout, northern pike, burbot, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and white sucker.
