East Vermilion is a large, open lake in St. Louis County spanning nearly 26,000 acres of mostly deep water. The lake is highly exposed to wind and can become windbound during storms. Access is via portages to Trout Lake (129 rods, hard) or Chad Lake (253 rods, strenuous). The lake holds six campsites and contains spiny waterflea.
