Brule Lake

Brule is a large, deep lake in Cook County near Grand Marais with 22 campsites and excellent fishing for walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, and perch. The open water connects directly to South Temperance, Lower Cone, Cow, Echo, Lily, and Vernon. Access is straightforward via the easiest 10-rod portage from South Temperance, though the lake's size and exposure to wind can create challenging conditions. Multiple outgoing portages range from 10 to 55 rods, offering diverse route options.
