South Lake

South is a 34-acre lake near Crane Lake with nine campsites and mostly deep, open water in a small, sheltered setting. Access is via a 72-rod moderate portage to North or a challenging 129-rod carry to Slim. The lake connects by open water to both North and Slim, offering paddlers relatively protected conditions for exploring this section of the Boundary Waters.
