Moose Lake

Moose is a large 1,301-acre lake near Ely with a maximum depth of 65 feet. The fairly open character means paddlers should expect windy, choppy conditions. Access is via three portages: the easiest at 86 rods (moderate carry) to Jasper, or longer routes to Wind (162 rods) and Flash (212 rods, strenuous). The lake offers 11 campsites and connects by open water to Newfound and Discovery, with excellent fishing for walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, and other species.
