John Lake is a 191-acre lake near Hovland with a maximum depth of 20 feet. The lake features extensive shallow, weedy bays that provide excellent fish habitat for northern pike, smallmouth bass, and walleye. Wind exposure is minimal, making it ideal for paddlers seeking calm conditions. Three campsites are available, and the lake connects via open water to Royal and Little John.
