Trip Overview
This 4-day, 24.5-mile loop out of Entry Point 39 on Baker Lake winds through the Temperance River corridor and the broad open waters of Cherokee and Sawbill lakes before looping back to the put-in. With 17 portages ranging up to 225.5 rods, expect a physically engaging trip that rewards paddlers with remote campsites and excellent fishing opportunities on Cherokee and Sawbill. The limited quota of just 2 groups per day at EP 39 ensures a genuinely wild and uncrowded experience.
Fishing Highlights
Cherokee and Sawbill lakes offer the best fishing on the route — Cherokee holds lake trout, burbot, and northern pike, while Sawbill adds walleye, smallmouth bass, and cisco to the mix.
